Synopsis: mount don't deal with trailing "/" well

As I mentioned in the Unformatted portion of this pr, I am not going to
provide a way for paths in /etc/fstab to be run through realpath.  
The change to canonicalize mounts paths from the command line is committed
as mount.c 1.74.  If there aren't any issues with that, I'll close this
PR shortly.
