To add a data point. The exact same problem also occurred
under IPF 3.x, but (for me at least) seems fixed as of IPF 4.1.5 (I
am running 4.1.6 on a few machines, but none using similar rules).
Also, forIPF 3.4.x any use of return-icmp-as-dest(xx) also caused
checksum problems; Usually, but not always the checksum was just
set (or probably *not* set) to zero for those cases (I still have
one machine running 1.6ZL w/ IPF 3.4.29 where I can see both of
these problems - fortunately the next hop is a Siemens/Efficient
Speedstream router which recognizes a checksum of zero and corrects
the issue.
