>Description:
I was wondering why "www.pkgsrc.org" sometimes takes a really long time to show the Website.
Now, a little digging brings light into the dark.
www.pkgsrc.org resolves to two A records:
194.176.77.5 and 194.176.77.10
While one of the Addresses is working, the other one is dead.
194.176.77.10 is dead and not working. And everytime your browser resolves to that Address, your browser waits until timeout (because, there is no service under that address) and then chooses the second Address (which is working). If you retry/reload, your Browser will take the cached working Address.
Now, the same thing happens to pkgsrc.org aswell.
pkgsrc.org (without www.) resolves to two A Records:
194.176.77.5 and 194.176.93.117
And again only 194.176.77.5 is working, the second Address is dead.
I'm sure this is not a temporary problem, because I've notices this a long time ago (a year), but couldn't explain it to me.
Please Contact the Hosting Company to fix the problem. (Change A Records)
Regards, Zafer.
ps: While fixing above Problem, you can add an AAAA Record for pkgsrc.org aswell, because www.netbsd.org do provide IPv6 Access.
>How-To-Repeat:
Try to lookup http://www.pkgsrc.org/ and try to notice a big delay before displaying the Website.
The delay happens only if the dead Address were resolved.
>Fix:
Contact the Hosting Company of pkgsrc.org and request change of the dead Addresses.
