i support this change.  it's the computer folks (us) who caused this by
using prefixes for 1000 when we meant 1024, not the disk manufacturers.
(lots of ISP's also count 1,000,000 bytes == 1MB.  i think i've seen SI
units used in about 5 or 6 programs so far.

KiB/MiB/etc might be kinda silly but i'll take silly over wrong, and to
me using K/etc for 1024/etc is wrong, even if locally historic with heavy
usage.  one of K = 1000 vs K = 1024 has to change, and K = 1024 is unlike
every other instance of K.
