NetBSD pavilion.insightbb.com 2.1 NetBSD 2.1 (GENERIC_LAPTOP) #0 Mon Oct 24 22:40:29 UTC 2005 jmc@faith.netbsd.org:/home/builds/ab/netbsd-2-1-RELEASE/i386/200510241747Z-obj/home/builds/ab/netbsd-2-1-RELEASE/src/sys/arch/i386/compile/GENERIC_LAPTOP i386
>Description:
Machine: HP Pavilion ze 5270 (5200 series)
Internal NIC: National Semiconductor DP83815
During installation the device was recognized as sip0 and I did a full installation over FTP. After the installation I had no net. I went to the #netbsd IRC channel where we discussed the problem. 'sjaaman' informed me that sip* was not enabled in the GENERIC_LAPTOP kernel and that if I have a laptop which has that built-in than I should submit a PR. I am currently downloading the source to try and get the NIC support working.
>How-To-Repeat:
Install on any notebook with an sip* network device and use the GENERIC_LAPTOP kernel.
>Fix:
*supposedly* Enable sip0 devices in the kernel config.
