>Environment:
System: NetBSD hal 3.0 NetBSD 3.0 (HAL) #0: Wed Dec 28 14:00:19 CET 2005 mer@killy:/usr/src/sys/arch/i386/compile/HAL i386
Architecture: i386
Machine: i386
>Description:
The NetBSD kernel does not have AGP support for the integrated
graphics device in the Intel i915 chipset. Without kernel support, the
X server can only use the integrated graphics to a limited degree,
e.g., without X-Video and hardware cursor.
>How-To-Repeat:
Try to start X on a machine with i915 internal graphics.
>Fix:
I sent patches to port-i386 (and tech-x11) a while a go, see
http://mail-index.netbsd.org/port-i386/2005/12/10/0000.html
There's an irrelevant definition of Compaq 56xx in sys/dev/pci/pcidevs
in the patches, which happened to be in my CVS tree. It does no harm,
but should probably be removed before the patches are commited.
