I just test-booted a kernel built with HAVE_GCC=4 and -march=pentium,
and the problem would appear to be fixed for gcc4. I only had time to
test quickly to single user, but that's a heck of a lot further than
it used to get.. I will do some more testing, and upgrade the box
fully, in a little while.
