    FYI, I also see this issue on i386 -current (GENERIC.MPACPI from today) on 
    a Pentium D 805 with a VIA P4M800 Pro motherboard. The issue is not 
    present with an amd64 kernel (GENERIC.MP + acpi support) on the same 
    system.
 
 
 are you sure this is the same problem?  what boot loader do you use?
 what exactly happens?
