 Why is this PR still open?   The bug reported was fixed in October (2005) ....
 
 The issue in NetBSD 2.1 reported by Itoh-san and appended to this PR
 looks as if it might be something different (but it is hard to tell, and
 if it hasn't happened already, at least part of the fix for this PR
 should probably be pulled up to the NetBSD 2 branch)
