     I'm no longer anywhere near systems vaguely similar; my closest
 hope would be trying this on x86.
 
     More to the point, I tend not to run compiles like this anymore,
 so I can't offer anything over my outdated feeling that union-fs on
 top of NFS could be flaky sometimes.  Life is probably much better
 now.
