See the following, firstly with files:
[juan@nocturno][~]> ln -s blah/@uid foo
[juan@nocturno][~]> file foo
foo: broken symbolic link to `blah/@uid'
[juan@nocturno][~]> cat foo
cat: foo: No such file or directory
[juan@nocturno][~]> echo blah > foo
[juan@nocturno][~]> cat foo
blah
[juan@nocturno][~]> ls -l blah
total 8
-rw-r--r-- 1 juan wheel 5 Feb 17 19:58 1000
[juan@nocturno][~]> cat blah/1000
blah
[juan@nocturno][~]>
Now with directories:
[juan@nocturno][~]> mkdir -p blah/@uid/tmp
[juan@nocturno][~]> ln -s blah/@uid/tmp foo
[juan@nocturno][~]> cd foo
cd: no such file or directory: foo
[juan@nocturno][~]> file foo
foo: symbolic link to `blah/@uid/tmp'
[juan@nocturno][~]>
So does it work?
