 Right, that's what I was looking for.  And I bet the kernel stack
 backtrace for that lwp would come through smbfs_reclaim() and
 smbfs_inactive().

 Is that a caching issue?  Or do they exist already at, say, mounttime?
 Can you stat the files?  Is du the only one affected by this?  Is there
 anything in common with the affected files: something in the name
 (e.g. length or special character), file type, file date, full path
 length, full path prefix, parent directory, ....
 
 This is probably a problem in smb, might warrant another PR.
