>Originator: Michal Suchanek
>Release: 5.0 BETA
>Organization:
CUNI
>Environment:
NetBSD 5.99.1 i386
>Description:
There are several problems with the new support for GPT partitions as dk
devices.
- on an Intel mac after upgrade from 4.01 to 5 BETA the system no longer
boots. It is impossible to use the wd0a device (Device busy). The system comes
up with the wd0a content mounted ro on / but fsck fails because wd0a is busy
and the system drops into root shell.
- the installer tries to install and upgrade on wd0a and fails miserably for
the same reason
- the situation with the partitions being visible in two ways but accessible
only in one way is confusing
- I doubt wd0b (e,f,..) would be accessible with the current scheme but I do
not have one so I cannot tell
>How-To-Repeat:
1) install NetBSD 4.01 on a disk formatted by OS X Intel
2) upgrade the kernel to 5 BETA
>Fix:
disable GPT support in the 5 BETA kernel
