 You need to leave -mcmodel=kernel out, see bsd.klinks.mk.
 
 I introduced HARDKERNEL and SOFTKERNEL cpp macros to the source code.
 Maybe we should extend the concept to the make subsystem and do
 "if defined(HARDKERNEL)" before the mcmodel line?
