i fixed that by removing the changes from if_iwn.c rev 1.25 which
added a call to ifioctl_common().  now i get:

arplookup: unable to enter address for aa.bb.cc.dd@ff on null (could not 
allocate llinfo)
arpresolve: can't allocate llinfo on iwn0 for aa.bb.cc.dd

when trying to send packets.  any one have ideas on this?
