 I think that failure is
          strg1->st_wcp = xrealloc(strg1->st_wcp, sizeof(*strg1->st_wcp));
 change to
          strg1->st_wcp = xrealloc(strg1->st_wcp, len * sizeof(*strg1->st_wcp));
