>Organization:
>Environment:
System: NetBSD/hp300 5.99.64 updated around 201202100600Z
Architecture: m68k
Machine: hp300
>Description:
Support for source set installation was added after 5.x release,
but it seems incomplete and might confuse users.
(1) distribution menu
On "d: Custom installation" in "Select your distribution" menu,
sysinst shows:
---
The following is the list of distribution sets that will be used.
Distribution set Selected
------------------------ --------
a: Kernel (GENERIC) Yes
b: Kernel Modules Yes
c: Base Yes
d: System (/etc) Yes
e: Compiler Tools No
f: Games No
g: Online Manual Pages No
h: Miscellaneous No
i: Test programs No
j: Text Processing Tools No
k: X11 sets None
l: Source sets unkno
>x: Install selected sets
---
"unkno" at Source sets line seems unintentional.
This doesn't happens on i386, so MD_SET definitions in md.h files
need more tweaks?
(2) install media setup
Even if the "Source sets" are not selected at all,
sysinst still ask "Source set directory".
In FTP or HTTP menu:
---
The following are the http site, directory, user, and password that will be
used. If "user" is "ftp", then the password is not needed.
>a: Host ftp.NetBSD.org
b: Base directory pub/NetBSD/NetBSD-5.99.64
c: Binary set directory /hp300/binary/sets
d: Source set directory /source/sets
e: User ftp
f: Password
g: Proxy
h: Transfer directory /usr/INSTALL
i: Delete after install No
x: Get Distribution
---
In NFS menu:
---
Enter the nfs host and server directory where the distribution is located.
Remember, the directory should contain the .tgz files and must be nfs
mountable.
>a: Host
b: Base directory /bsd/release
c: Binary set directory /hp300/binary/sets
d: Source set directory /source/sets
x: Continue
---
So users might be confused that unnecessary source sets are selected.
(Note the source sets are not selected by "Full installation")
>How-To-Repeat:
Boot installer then
(1) select Custom installation and see menu
(2) choose FTP or NFS for install media
>Fix:
No idea.
