 You where right the file system was corrupted.
 Unfortunately running fsck from the installation cd reported the file syste=
 m as clean, the same when O.S was booted.
 I had to run fsck inside the system itself and reboot to correct it.

  these are unrelated. It is just openssl probing if the cpu supports certai=
 n
  instructions, and the code to avoid those printfs has not been pulled up t=
 o 6.
