I try to clarify your general change acceptance for the involved implementation
details. More concrete update suggestions can be seen from my similar proposal
for Linux.

The shown semantic patch pattern will work also with NetBSD source files after
it will be adjusted a bit. Does the corresponding make file need further
fine-tuning for your software platform?
