 Sorry for the slow response; the machine's been relegated to running IPSEC
 testsuites.
 
 Using a fresh 7-beta user-land, a current kernel, and firefox24(?) from
 pkgsrc:
 
 - it doesn't seem to crash (at least for the hour i used it)!
 - cat videos on youtube work
 
 unfortunately, the scrambled image problem still seems to be there.  Easily
 spotted while looking for cat videos on youtube.
 (hmm, I'd better re-confirm that the scrambled images go away once accel is
 turned off)
