 -- At work, I have been carrying around a script from Ubuntu 9 to 10 to=20
 debian 7 clients, to be run from rc.local, which checks whether NIS is=20
 actually available and automount can mount nfs shares, and restarts a=20
 handful of services if not. This is because obtaining an ip address=20
 during boot is considered optional (the dhcp client will background=20
 after a few seconds), and at least some network daemons consistently=20
 fail to deal with the fallout. kdm will then put up a requester anyway,=20
 and "logins will not work".
 
 I would rather not see that s...ub-obtimal approach on NetBSD.
