The speaker device driver is not working.  Messages in dmesg claim the
device has attached (actually, 3 devices attach, one at pcppi0, one at
audio0 at hdafg0, and one at audio1 at pad0).  Yet trying to write the
string "T60L1CP1CP1C" to /dev/speaker results in ENXIO error (no such
device or address).

The error persists whether the spkr driver is built-in or loaded as a
