 Earlier there is:
 
 HOSTNAME=/bin/hostname
 
 so this shold run /bin/hostname and store the output in "host".
 Looks perfectly fine to me. Can you run it with "sh -x /usr/sbin/ypinit"
 and see what goes wrong?
