BTW, trying a newer kernel is a matter of doing this:
mv /netbsd /onetbsd
mv /path/to/new/netbsd /netbsd
reboot
(And the usual bootloader has the option to drop to boot prompt and type
'boot onetbsd' so you can keep on booting if you have problems with the
newer kernel).
Kernel modules will need to be changed though.
If you want to backport newer wm changes to 5.1, it might be just these
3 files: sys/dev/pci/if_wm*
wm(4) had a lot of activity, there's a good chance that it changed
5.1->8.0. Hopefully it works.
