Many applications may show this problem. This report was made when www/netsurf cored and the corefile was opened in gdb, it showed the errors described. These also occur during pkgsrc builds of many packages.

Currently I have reverted from 8.99 to 8.0 which works fine. Now I do not have the required environment to confirm / experiment.
