I just checked and the problem is still here with the latest
NetBSD 10 snapshot.

Well, before the next release, now...

It applies to NetBSD 10 sources so it should work as intended but
I didn't compile a new kernel to check that. Anyway, I'd rather
prefer NetBSD to work out of the box on my laptop.
