That definitely fixes the boot issue for sure! (Tested with sparc64 media since that is the only machine type I actually was trying to use it.)  I get all the way into the installer and can install a minimal system to a virtio disk. I can then boot a kernel from the disk and start process but unfortunately I get

And I'm not quite sure how to set the boot device but that's probably fixable if I acquire some more knowledge 😉

No worries at all. Given that the fix now seems to have been incorporated into
current, I think it should be possible to use this image to test the change:
