Yes, that was the original idea way back when.  One problem remains:
the document is currently in a different module (htdocs vs pkgsrc).  the
pkgsrc module should be self-contained, so we'd need to make sure that
updates are indeed only made to the xml version and after regeneration
it is also committed in pkgsrc.
