It could be copied to /etc using the standard pkgsrc methods.
Just define in your mk.conf:
RCD_SCRIPTS_DIR= /etc/rc.d
PKG_RCD_SCRIPTS= YES # or set in environment when using pkg_*
And it should install the rc.d scripts to where you expect them. And then
it should be removed when uninstalled.
