Rudolf and Hubert,
The 15th edition of the Chicago Manual of Style states in section
6.103 on pages 266--67:
A period precedes the closing parenthesis if the entire sentence is
in parentheses; otherwise if follows.
Since the text inside the parentheses is a sentence one solution is to
capitalize the 'n' in note; however, partition should be partitions.
A diff of my suggestions follows.
