When I ugraded from (installed from scratch) NetBSD-0.8 to 1.0 on my
Compaq Contura 3/25 notebook, SLIP stopped working. Are there any
significant changes in the SLIP setup that I should be aware of?
So far I have tried the same steps as I did when I used 0.8, using
/dev/tty00 instead of /dev/com0, but with no results. 'slattach',
'ifconfig', and 'route' do not give me any error messages, but when I
try to ping the remote host I get a "No route to host" error message.
'tip com0' (using the default com0 entry in /etc/remote yields a "link
down message"). Information from 'netstat -r' , 'ifconfig sl0' and
'netstat -i' seems to be correct. I have not changed anything on the
server side.
'dmesg' tells me that com0 is detected as:
com0 at isa0 port 0x3f8-0x3ff irq 4: ns82450 or ns16450, no fifo
which is the same as when I used 0.8.
I have assumed that /dev/tty00 is the replacement for /dev/com0 as
found in NetBSD-0.8.
BTW, when I try to use XFree86-3.1 with /dev/tty00 configured for a
serial port mice, I stumble into a similar problem; no mouse events
are detected.
Hints and help on how to resolve this would be appreciated.
Thanks,
-- Arne
