russell, i'm trying to understand one thing from the nfs write 
performance in your message: was it linux writing nfs to linux, netbsd 
writing nfs to netbsd? If so, was linux running in async mode vs. netbsd 
in sync. mode? The netbsd numbers (by my reading) are all so much better 
I have to wonder if that's the ticket.
