I'm still stuck here. the 509 cards work fine in one pc, and don't work
in two others. The ones that they don't work in have a newer ami bios
which does have one menu screen mentioning plug and play. I haven't
figured out if i have disabled that part of the bios, the docs i have are
worthless.

So is this problem one that occurs only when you have:
1) 509 configured for plug and play
2) bios configured for plug and play

So i have to disable plug and play on the 509, and then it won't matter
what bios i have?

thanks
