Subject: PPP setup?

I finally gave in and got a PPP account with a local provider
(shore.net). I'm running around in circles trying to set myself up,
though. Neither the 386BSD nor the PPP FAQ has been helpful. I am
running NetBSD 1.0.

I got a resolv.conf from them, and not much else. They use Livingston
Portmasters. I do NOT have a dedicated IP number, which makes things
a bit more difficult.

I would appreciate it if some kind soul would let me know what I
should put into the following files, if anything:

/etc/hostname.ppp0
/etc/ppp/options
/etc/ppp/ip-up
/etc/ppp/ip-down
kermit 5A(190) or chat dialing script
/etc/hosts
/etc/myname (FQDN or just hostname?)
/etc/mygate

Some more questions:

Do I need to run routed or can I get away with 'route add default
aa.bb.cc.dd'?

Do I need to run named, or is having a resolv.conf sufficient? I
don't need to run NIS or anything like that.

Once the link is up, can I get sendmail to snarf my mail off of their
POP3 server, or do I need something else?

I would also appreciate hints on how to bring the link up or down on
demand, because I only get 60 hrs./mo. and my aptmate likes to use the
phone occasionally. :-)

Please send replies to me, not the list, and I will summarize. TIA,
