Hi:
I've been trying to connect a PC running netbsd with PPP to a NetBlazer with
PPP built-in and turned on.
The modems are very similar -- both are TrailBlazer modems. They don't
seem to have any problems communicating without PPP (I am composing this
over the modems).
I have seen this physical NetBlazer unit communicate via modems with a
far-flung remove PPP site. The PPP in use at that far site was a version
provided by Morningstar on the Sun Sparc2.
I *USED* to be able to get thru the LCP negotiation okay with this netbsd
kernel and the NetBlazer in question. About two weeks ago, it stopped
working. As best I can tell, nobody reconfigured the NetBlazer and I
didn't (knowingly) change the configuration of the machine here.
I have tried a number of options from the pppd man page in the options
file for PPP. I have turned on the debugging capabilities for kernel
and pppd debug. I can easily capture the LCP negotiation. Specifically,
it seems each side is ignoring the other. The remote side is sending my
side a 24 byte packet. My side then sends out some bytes. A 28 byte
packet is received followed by another 24 byte packet and we start the
whole sequence over again.
A couple of items: 1) does anybody have an inkling of what's going on
inside this connection? 2) does anybody have a spec for the content
of the bytes sent back and forth during LCP negotiation?
Any other suggestions?
Your help is appreciated.
Michael
