It got incorporated sometime after 1.1 got released, and will be in the
upcoming 1.2 release (and no, I don't know when 1.2 will be released, but
I would guess soon).

Everything you need is included. However, unless you want to upgrade to
-current, you'll have to wait until 1.2 comes out. I suppose it would
be possible to back-port the PPP distribution, but it needs some kernel
support as well.

All the info is in the pppd man page, but you have to read it a couple of
times before you figure everything out :-) Basically, you need the "demand",
"idle", and "persist" options. The "active-filter" option is useful if you
only want your connection to wakeup on certain things.
