Hi:
I am putting together a system with a Tyan Tomcat III (single pentium)
motherboard, and I am trying to install NetBSD 1.2 from the
installation disks.
The first disk boots fine. When I get to the installation disk, I get
the following message:
com0 at isa0 port 0x3f8-0x3ff irq 248: ns16550a, working fifo
panic: intr_establish: bogus irq or type
Then I am told to reboot.
If I disable the first com port, I get the message for the second, and
then the parallel port. I can get past these problems if I disable all
three of these ports from BIOS.
I also hang at the first prompt:
Enter pathname of shell or RETURN form sh:
unless I disable both on-chip and external cache.
Does anybody else in NetBSD-land have the Tyan Tomcat III? If so, I
would appreciate any hints that you have. I'm not above bribing people
with chocolat-chip cookies. :)
