"rm /etc/localtime"
"ln -s /usr/share/misc/zoneinfo/UNIVERSAL /etc/localtime"
That worked for me.

How do I set the time zone to GMT so that it STAYS after a reboot? And does
changing the time automatically set the internal clock (i386)?
