The kernel will probe and reports devices independantly of
what nodes are present in /dev (Other than needing a /dev/console
in order to report them :)
Are you running a GENERIC kernel on the machine? If the kernel
config does not have the correct lines for the framebuffer then it
will not be detected.
Also - are you certain its a cgsix - if its a tgx then support
might not be present in 1.2 - you could try booting a snapshop
kernel from ftp.netbsd.org/pub/NetBSD/arch/sparc/... and see if
it reports anything different (download the kernel to /netbsd.test
then from the boot prompt 'boot netbsd.test -s'
