i built an axppci33 based alpha system and would like to install netbsd
on it and get rid of redhat and openbsd :)

it has two PCI SMC EtherPower 8432T 10baseT ethernet cards in it.
(dec 21040's) now on boot up from the install disk they are
recognized as de0 and de1, but when i do something like the following
i cannot seem to access the localnet...

ifconfig de0 my.main.ip.address 255.255.255.0
route add default my.main.gate.way

ping my.main.gate.way doesnt seem to work but ping my.main.ip.address does
of course...

am i just being stupid?
