Because of a hardware problem, I have a bunch of messed up shared
libraries installed on my system that need reinstalling. But it's not
obvious which ones need replacement.
for example, I'm trying to install the gnome-libs package. This
package requires:
esound-0.2.17 libaudiofile-0.1.9 ORBit-0.5.0 gettext-0.10.35
gindent-2.2.5 glib-1.2.6 gmake-3.78.1 imlib-1.9.8 jpeg-6b
libungif-4.1.0 netpbm-19940301 png-1.0.3 tiff-3.5.4 xpm-3.4k
perl-5.00404 pkglibtool-1.2p2 gtk+-1.2.6
Unfortnately, compilation of gnome-libs always fails at a particular
point, and I'm not sure why. I'm wondering if it could be due to a
problem in one of the aforementioned libraries.
Here's the error message I get when attempting to make gnome-libs:

Does anyone have any idea why I'm unable to compile this? Do I need to
reinstall a set of libraries that are used to compile the gnome-libs?
Thanks for any help or info.
