Hello All,
I took a much needed break from my configuration problem and am now back =
on
it. So please excuse the extended msg as I must type them in here. The
issues is neither a network connection nor a ping response beyond the nic=
=2E
First, dmseg | more =
ex0 at pci0 dev 11 function 0: 3Com 3c905B-TX 10/100 Ethernet
ex0: interrupting at irq 9

status: no carrier
inet 0.0.0.0 netmask 0xff000000 broadcast 255.255.255.255
Please note that I have entered the following:
ifconfig ex0 inet 10.10.1.5 netmask 255.255.255.0
When I ifconfig ex0 I get the same msg as above but the last line then r=
eads:

Additional Info:
1. I can enter inet 10.10.1.5 (address of the router) and 255.255.255.0.=
ifconfig ex0 will then return the above line. However, if I reboot t=
hose
setting are not saved.
2. If I make the above changes, and touch ifconfig i can ping the card a=
nd
ping 10.10.1.5 but I can't ping beyond that address.
3. I can watch the HP Lan switch port for this box and I can see the por=
t
become active and comm with the nic. However, when dhcp begins the port
disconnects. Even after configuring the router ip the port does not come=
up.
4. When I enter dhclient the console displays Internet Software Consorti=
um
DHCP Client V2.0b1p125+ and appears to hang. (AKA Win9x)
