I easily and sucessfully installed KDE 2 using the package source that was
via http://www.nthcliff.demon.co.uk/NetBSD/KDE2/. But now it is packaged
and available with
ftp://ftp.netbsd.org/pub/NetBSD/packages/1.5/i386/All/kde-2.1.tgz. (This
is the meta-package.)

But you may still want to try building it from source.

Different operating systems have different characteristics (good or bad)
that work better for different people. It is true that NetBSD has some
quirks; and I have also came across many problems myself (such as with
SDL). Nevertheless, I have found that using NetBSD is enjoyable and
productive. (My first KDE 2 install worked the first time.)

Please let us know what is missing, where you looked, and how it should be
improved. These problems can be fixed.
