Immediately after 'make install' finsinhed on KDE2, just 
for a lark, I tried 'kdm'.

It came up with the graphical login, I give it a valid 
login and passwd. The same screen comes back. I give it 
the same again, and it locks up X.

Does happen only because KDM is not specially configured? 
Should I work to configure? Or should I look for 
something worse?
