hi
now i got almost everything i want, running on my netbsdbox.
i did the same before with freebsd and working.
but on netbsd i got a problem or better a question about
samba.
i am running netbsd 1.5.2 with samba 2.0.9 and on the other
side of the cable there is windows2000.
i did edit the smb.conf file and took the line /path/to/smbd -D
and /path/to/nmbd -D in the rc.local file, to run samba in
daemon mode on startup.
i did all the same way i did it on freebsd, but something
was going wrong.
everytime i wanted to connect the win2000box, i got an
error message, networkpath not found or something like that.
i saw the server in the explorer window, with the server
string i wrote in the smb.conf, but it did not connect.
i tried everything i know, but nothing really changed.
until i wrote the ip-address and the aliasname of the
samba server in the hosts file on windows2000.
now i am searching for an answer why this is happens.
does someone know what, why or if there is a difference between
samba (with netbsd) and samba (with freebsd).
the connection is no problem anymore, but i want, again, to
understand why this strange things happen.
