No problems with NetBSD. I've seen bioses so stupid  that they would hang
with large drive, I've had to disable the drive in the bios before connecting
it. It was not the boot drive, otherwise that would have been a problem :)

As how to partition it: this depends on your usage.
Basically: use fdisk -i, then fdisk -u to create a partition for NetBSD
(type 169) starting at sector 63 to the end of the disk. Then use disklabel -i
to create partitions.
