I want to be able to do a mfs union mount over a read-only filesystem
AND be able to create files in existing subdirectories.

I understand that mount_union can do this, but "mount -o union" can't.

# The real /etc is on read-only hardware
mount_mfs -s 1m -o union,rw swap /etc

And then I can touch files in /etc/, but not in /etc/ppp/.

Any ideas on how to configure it so I can edit within subdirectories?
