I was able to cut the size of my kernel in half (2355194 vs 4749749) by
stripping out the stuff that I didn't need.

OTOH, now I need to go in and recompile it again, because I'm moving some
stuff (SCSI card & drives) over from a decommissioned box.  I kept my old
kernel, so I can just boot with that until I get my new one built.
