As allrdy meantioned:
CardBus, which is an extension of PCMCIA, is another industry
standard from the same consortium that did PCMCIA.
The normal pcmcia bus is 16 bits wide and can go up to 10 mhz.
So 160mbits is the max for that bus.
Cardbus goes up to 33mhz and 32bits, so 1056mbits.
This is nice when you wish to use a 100mb full-duplex network card.
Hope this helps.
Btw, soon i'll try netbsd on a compaq armada E500 and i'll put
a 100mb 3com pcmcia card in it, lets see if all is supported and works fine.
Bye,
Mipam.
Btw anybody got experience with these laptops? my natural response towards
compaq equipment is like "oh dear, what's next?"
