I've started to because I wanted a graphic as an underlay on my window,
but now it has started doing some really weird stuff, like stealing
standard in or something:
I run cat and hit enter a few times ... this is what happens:
|mumble[~] 46v>: cat
|load: 0.10 cmd: cat 20194 [ttyin] 0.00u 0.00s 0% 64k
|load: 0.10 cmd: cat 20194 [ttyin] 0.00u 0.00s 0% 64k
|load: 0.10 cmd: cat 20194 [ttyin] 0.00u 0.00s 0% 64k
|load: 0.10 cmd: cat 20194 [ttyin] 0.00u 0.00s 0% 64k
|load: 0.10 cmd: cat 20194 [ttyin] 0.00u 0.00s 0% 64k
|load: 0.10 cmd: cat 20194 [ttyin] 0.00u 0.00s 0% 64k
|mumble[~] 47v>:
I can't even su to root because it mucks up the password entry:
|mumble[~] 47v>: su
|Password:load: 0.13 cmd: su 20199 [ttyin] 0.01u 0.00s 0% 748k
|load: 0.13 cmd: su 20199 [ttyin] 0.01u 0.00s 0% 748k
|load: 0.12 cmd: su 20199 [ttyin] 0.01u 0.00s 0% 748k
|load: 0.12 cmd: su 20199 [ttyin] 0.01u 0.00s 0% 748k
|load: 0.12 cmd: su 20199 [ttyin] 0.01u 0.00s 0% 748k
I've never seen this kind of behaviour before. What is also weird is
that I get the same behaviour if I use a shell from within 'screen' ...
which I'm at a loss to understand how this would even be possible ...
I don't get the same behaviour if I use rxvt or xterm.
The only thing I can think of is something screwy with environment
variables ... but even then that doesn't make much sense ...
